It’s tax time again. Some people are happy because they will receive a refund while others are not because they will have to pay.
Isn’t it funny how we allow our world to revolve around money? Take a moment and contemplate the meaning of money in your life. Are you a slave to your money? What about your position? Are you the boss who micromanages employees and sweats every penny? Are you still chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Or is your day filled with joy, peace, happiness and success regardless of how much money you have?
Some of us have been led to believe that if we have enough money we can control the pain and pleasure we may experience. Pain and pleasure come in many disguises. Tragedy or trauma is no respecter of persons. Unfortunately having enough money will not keep us from experiencing pain but fortunately having little money will not keep us from experiencing pleasure.
Money used with wisdom is a wonderful tool. It can buy us beautiful things. It can put food on our table and provide for a roof over our heads. Having a large amount of money is not a bad thing. Having a small amount of money is not a bad thing either.
Value and Worthiness
Too often we regard those with a lot of money as worth more than those who have less money. And they are worth more, but only in dollars. We regard those who have less money as worth less and they are worth less, but only in dollars.
Status is based on what we own but it does not define who we really are. Life flows easily into both rich and poor. You are not your monetary worth.
We all have gifts to be thankful for. Don’t ignore your blessings. Blessings sometimes wear masks only to be revealed to us when we open our hearts and allow our minds to receive. The world is actually a pretty cool place when we take the time to look at it closely. Happiness emanates from within. We can be rich and still be miserable and we can be poor and full of joy.
Your Life Has Meaning
Whether you are rich or poor your life has meaning. Each life is a story, a story of experience. We are here to learn, to grow, and to expand in wisdom through our experience. Life can be shared in many ways to bring joy and hope to others.
Think about the value of those who give their life in service to others? Would you say they are worthless if they don’t have much money? They, above all, should be valued for their kindness, caring and service to others. They, without question, undoubtedly make our world a better place.
Renowned author and lecturer Dr David Hawkins may have said it best: “It is not money that makes one happy, it is what one does with the money, what it means and whether he uses it out of love for another or out of greed for inner sensation and possession.”
So live your life the best you can. Be kind to your neighbor and count your blessings.
