5 Nurturing Ways for Spiritual Self-Care

Self-care is not something that should be taken lightly.

It’s important to eat well, exercise, and get plenty of rest, but have you considered your spiritual self-care?

If you’re taking a fully holistic approach to your overall self-care, then you need to focus on more than just the physical aspects. Because of this, we’ll look at five ways to nurture your spiritual self as well.

1. Connect With Community

Humans are social creatures.

The demands of life, however, are increasingly moving us away from one another. Many of us have lost touch completely with any sense of community.

And that means we’re being denied the emotional support and the energizing effects that come from laughter and exchanging ideas with one another.

It is in groups where we gain the power to persevere when times get tough.

So if you don’t live in a community that encourages neighborly interactions, then join a book club, organize a group on the internet, or even join a gym or health club.

2. Try Yoga

Falling in line with the above suggestion, practicing yoga is also a wonderful way to become part of a community.

In addition, you will benefit tremendously from this practice that focuses on harmonizing the body, mind, and spirit.

Yoga allows you to connect with your body and emotions stored deep within in a non-judgmental way. It teaches you acceptance with where you are at any given moment.

It’s an amazing way to increase the flexibility of both your body and your mind.

3. Practice Kindness

When you put goodness into the world, it comes back to you.

But that’s not the only reason to do it. The sheer act of being kind feels good. It’s empowering. And you’re helping others in the process.

So go out of your way to hold the door open for someone. Or leave a big tip for your barista or some money for the psychic during that free psychic reading.

The cool thing about kindness is that it’s contagious. When you practice kindness, so will others.

4. Engage in Meditation

If your notion of meditation involves sitting still in a pretzel shape for interminable amounts of time, you’ll want to reframe this.

Meditation can be something as simple as closing your eyes to go inward for just one minute. In fact, that’s where many people start and then build up to longer amounts of time slowly.

This practice goes a long way toward easing anxiety and depression. And there are many different sorts of meditation – from deep breathing to mindfulness to visualization to repeating a mantra.

5. Find Forgiveness

Are you holding a grudge?

If so, you may not recognize what a strain it is on your body and your spirit. It takes an incredible amount of energy to hold onto resentment. And it holds you back from fully experiencing life.

So try to let go of that and find forgiveness instead. You will feel a new sense of lightness and freedom that will allow your spirit to soar.

Remember the Importance of Spiritual Self-Care
