Q&A with Georgia Woodbine, author of Total B.S. (Body & Soul)

1. WHAT IS TOTAL B.S.(BODY&SOUL) ABOUT AND WHY DID YOU WRITE IT?

Total B.S (Body & Soul) is about finding one’s true self and peeling away life’s preconceived notions of who we think we are, and removing layers of self-doubt that prevent us from living in our highest potential mentally, physically and spiritually. It’s about living a happier and healthier lifestyle. When you think about getting fit for life, it’s not just about the way you look on the outside, it’s also about how you feel on the inside. My conception of fitness goes way beyond losing or maintaining a healthy weight. It’s about interconnection of the mind, body and soul and how each has the power to affect the other. When these three are in alignment, you are able to explore new pathways to inner peace and experience living a more fulfilling life. Total B.S. reveals the formula for healthy living. You will learn: Personal Development Techniques, Strategies to Stay Motivated, Tips to Transform Your Mind and Body, How to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle, Simple Ways to Achieve Your Goals.

The reason I wrote this book is because I wanted to share my personal journey to empower others and show them that all things are possible once you change your mindset. Most of us know what we need to do to change our lives, but we sometimes lack the focus and discipline needed to achieve our goals. The techniques I share can also be applied to every other area of your life. Your thoughts create your actions, your actions create your habits, and your habits create your lifestyle.

2. PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THE MIND-BODY-SOUL CONNECTION, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BEST WAYS ALIGN THESE THREE?

A healthy mind leads to a healthy body and soul, which ultimately leads to a fulfilling lifestyle. Meditation, exercise and socialization are some ways to align these three. We all have the ability to align mind, body and soul. When they are aligned you can deliberately create the lifestyle you desire and manifest change.

3. HOW CAN WE STAY MOTIVATED TO LOSE OR MAINTAINWEIGHT LOSS?

Weight loss motivation starts with figuring out why you really want to lose weight in the first place. The clearer you are about your “WHY”, the more motivated you will be. You have to take an active role in improving your health and life because if you don’t take care of yourself, no one else will. Determine what you want and plan how you will attain it. The first step is write down your goals and define the action steps you will need to take. The best way to stay motivated is to concentrateon one goal at a time and set a specific completion date. Recommit yourself daily and keep a positive attitude even when you face challenges also look for an accountability partner, someone who can provide support. Set your “mindset” for success, and you’ll stay motivated on your journey to weight loss andbetter health.

4. CAN YOU SHARE SOME TIPS ON HOW WE CAN GET ON THE PATH TO LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE?

Be good to your body, your body will be good to you. When you take care of your body you will feel less stressed and have more energy. In order to change your body you need to create new habits. Being fit is not only about losing weight and feeling good, it’s about changing your lifestyle. Here are seven habits that I implemented in my life to create a happier and healthier lifestyle. These basic practices will improve your overall life.

Set Goals – Decide what you want toachieve and create a plan.

Eat Healthy – Get into a habit of planning your meals ahead, it helps you eat healthier

Exercise More – The key to staying fit is to simply stay active.

Meditate – The best way to attain balance is to find time to be still and alone.

Get More Rest – Make sleep a priority and try to get seven to eight hours a night.

Prioritize Your Life – Set priorities on your time based on what is important to you.

Speak Positive Affirmations – Positive self-talk reinforces positive thinking

5. HOW DO WE BUILD HEALTHY HABITS?

Building healthy habits takes practice, commitment and patience. In order to build a healthy habit, you have to be willing to recommit yourself. Try not to be hard on yourself if you fall short. There may be days when you fall off track, but keep going and start over again. Give yourself thirty days to work on changing one habit at a time. After thirty days you will be on track. Get in the habit of looking at the positive aspects of your life and focusing on the good things. In order to keep yourself grounded, you have to become aware of your thoughts and how to control them. Some techniques that have changed my life tremendously are visualization, meditation and affirmations. Once you start implementing healthy habits, you will begin to seeyourself evolve. By simplifying your life, you will have more time to build the life you want.

6. ANYTHING ELSE?

Transforming your life begins with taking action. Personal growth is a journey that will continue for the rest of your life, so embrace the process. When you are ready for change nothing will stand in the way of accomplishing your goals except your mindset. You are the only one who can make your life change, so proudly take responsibility for every decision you make. You can have whatever you want, whether it’s losing weight, maintaining balance or finding your bliss. As long as you believe deep within your heart that you are worthy and have the power to make your life change, all things become possible.
