Frank vs. God movie review

posterDavid Frank (Henry Ian Cusick) thinks he’s lost everything. Unable to move past the grief of losing his wife, this former lawyer has all but given up. That is, until a tornado not only destroys his house, but takes from him the last real connection to the world, his beloved dog Brutus. When the insurance company deems the loss an “act of God,” David is desperate, and is convinced someone has to pay. He decides to serve God… with a lawsuit.

Frank vs. God is a quirky, funny, and profound movie that asks some of the BIG questions that we have been asking throughout history such as:

Why am I here?
Why does God allow bad things to happen?
What is the purpose of suffering?

Through court room antics and testimony from leaders across all major religions, Frank seeks to hold God accountable for his loss. Throughout these scenes, we get insights into some of these BIG questions that have plagued mankind. In one particularly poignant scene, a priest explains to Frank that when people pray for strength, God gives them hardship to make them stronger, problems to help them develop wisdom, and troubled people to teach them how to love. These insights are interwoven with plenty of comic relief and laugh at loud scenes as Frank puts God on trial for the losses that he has encountered in his life.
