James Cameron’s acceptance speech after Avatar wins Best Drama at Golden Globes

On Sunday night, Avatar won Best Drama at the Golden Globes. James Cameron’s acceptance speech was refreshing and insightful as he humbly said:

“Avatar asks us to see that everything is connected, all human beings to each other and us to the Earth. And, if you have to go four and half light years to another made up planet to appreciate this miracle of a world we have right here, then well you know what, that’s the wonder of cinema, that’s the magic.”

I read things like this at times from sources channeling civilizations on other planets: “You people on Planet Earth have no idea how beautiful your planet is!” And they go on to say that we are abusing and trashing our planet faster than she can recover. It’s heartening to hear more folks around here raise the awareness of what we have here… because there is nothing like it anywhere else in the universe.

  2. It’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen. It’s like you are transported to the Avatar land. Go and see it in cinemas before they stop showing it everyone!

  3. Matt Welsh says:

Yeah, part of me wonders just how much James Cameron tapped into the collective consciousness’s appreciation for the inherent beauty in our world

  4. michellez says:

Avatar just proves again that entertaining movies don’t have to be mindless entertainment. Thanks James Cameron!
