The unimaginable Gulf Oil Spill has left us all with an intense combination of emotions, from sadness to anger to helplessness. How could this happen? And now that the leak has been stopped, what can we do as individuals to help fix this horrific environmental disaster?

Musical duo Wilderland answers the call by releasing their new song “Fragile Day” with 100% of all proceeds benefiting the habitat affected by this tragedy.

Visit http://www.fragileday.com to download the song and find out more information.

Heralding from the mountains of Ashland, Oregon, Wilderland features singer-songwriters Scott Blum and Kat Sanchez. A veteran from the music industry, Blum (multimedia producer for Peter Gabriel, Soundgarden and many others) balances the exquisite vocal stylings of Sanchez who had been a member of a wide range of local bands most of her life. After writing several original songs, the musicians began collaborating with renowned underground DJ and multi-instrumentalist Rara Avis (Desert Dwellers, Shaman’s Dream) to realize their musical vision. It was during these studio sessions that the Gulf Oil Spill tragedy happened which deeply affected all involved in the project.

Ironically, the song “Fragile Day” was being worked on at that very moment, and when explaining the song’s lyrics to Avis, Blum realized that a powerful synchronicity was afoot. The song included the lyric “Fish are dimming while they’re swimming / Blackened ocean of foam” which, although written nearly two years prior, was about fish dying because of an oil spill. Credit is given to Blum’s wife Madisyn Taylor who suggested that “Fragile Day” be released immediately with all proceeds benefiting the habitat affected by the oil spill.

Also touched by the environmental tragedy, music industry superstars Toby Wright (Grammy award winning producer of Alice in Chains, Korn, 3 Doors Down, etc.) and Stephen Marcussen (mastering engineer for the Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Seal, Cher, Paul McCartney, etc.) both contributed their expertise to this worthwhile project.

You can download two versions of “Fragile Day” by Wilderland with 100% of the proceeds donated to three important charities helping the habitat affected by the Gulf Oil Spill Tragedy. These organizations include The Gulf Restoration Network, EarthShare and the WILD Foundation. Visit www.FragileDay.com to watch the emotionally powerful video and download the song to support this worthy cause.

The Spiritual Significance of Music is a collection of exclusive interviews with many of the world’s most visionary musicians and writers. Edited by Justin St. Vincent, it is a unique anthology that explores the dynamic relationship between music and spirituality.

For example, in an interview with Ron Thal from Guns N’ Roses, Ron writes, “A good amount of songs I’ve written came about by taking whatever was weighing heavy on my chest and letting it in, facing it, and returning it to the world as something positive, a way to help make sense of it all.”

The Spiritual Significance of Music takes you into the hearts and minds of well known musicians and lets you know how the music they make relates to their own personal spirituality.

The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual award given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime contributions to American culture. Last night CBS aired the ceremony and showed Bruce Springsteen receiving the honor – as he sat next to President Obama and heard Eddie Vedder perform Bruce’s City of Ruins.

City of Ruins is an example of how a song can turn into a living prayer. Its lyrics and imagery depict transformation and rising above your struggles. The first minute of the song is sad and pensive as Bruce reflects upon an empty and desolate city. But, a couple minutes into the song, the beat picks up and Springsteen opens his hands and prays the words:

“With these hands. I pray for the strength Lord with these hands. I pray for the love Lord with these hands.”

One can only imagine what is inspiring Springsteen to write and sing these words.

The song gains more momentum during the final minute when Bruce sings out:

“Rise up. Come on, rise up. Come on rise up.”

This spiritual language of transformation is unmistakable. Springsteen knows that his city is in ruins. But, he is asking for the strength to rise above it…

Susan Boyle’s audition video for the reality TV show, Britain’s Got Talent, was the most watched YouTube video of 2009 with over 120 million viewings, more than three times higher than the second most popular video uploaded to YouTube.

Her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” on the show catapulted her from an unemployed church choir singer to an international media sensation. She almost did not audition for Britain’s Got Talent, but a former coach persuaded her to go out for the show despite Susan’s belief that “…she was too old and that it was a young person’s game.”

Susan Boyle released her first album in November 2009. It debuted as the number one best-selling CD on the charts around the globe.

Dr. Judith Orloth (www.DrJudithOrloff.com) interviewed Quincy Jones about intuition for her new book, Positive Energy. He bluntly answered by saying,

“I’ve counted on my intuition for 50 years. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t trust it. To me, intuition is paying close attention to God’s whispers. It’s the most natural part of us. Listening gives us energy and inner power. What you feel, not what you think. That’s what it’s all about. I live by goosebumps. I get them every time something really touches me…music, movies, poetry and emotion…Nothing to talk about unless I get the goosebumps. I believe all the answers to our questions are out there if we just slow down enough to hear….Jazz people really trust intuition. They have to. They live off of it. They exist because of it.”

It kind of makes you wonder:

What would have happened if Quincy Jones had ignored his intuition? Would he still have earned a record 79 Grammy Award nominations, won 27 Grammys or had the creative juice to produce Michael Jackson’s album Thriller? What would have happened to his lifework if he did not trust his intuition.

The music video below is a compilation of talks given by Jerry and Esther Hicks on a cruise with music playing and people dancing in the background. The main point that I got from their talks is that everything that you have experienced in your life thus far has happened in order to give you the knowledge, skills and internal strength to help you carry out your life purposes/whatever is calling out to you. The message is very empowering and the music video is fun to watch.
