Save Eli Stone

Eli Stone is a spiritually based drama/comedy that airs on ABC Tuesday nights at 10/9c.  The show is about a lawyer who receives prophetic visions that he must decipher in order to help someone in need, usually one his underdog legal clients.  The show does an amazing job of incorporating metaphysical, inspirational and thought-provoking messages through topical storylines.  It epitomizes what is possible for spiritual entertainment.

Unfortunately the executives at ABC decided not to renew Eli Stone for a third season.  However, a group of dedicated fans have united at Save-EliStone.com with one purpose — to increase ratings of the remaining seven episodes so the show will be picked up by ABC (or perhaps another network) for a third season.  Their efforts have not gone unnoticed.  One of the co-creators of the show, Marc Guggenheim, who has also worked on C.S.I. Miami and Law and Order, wrote them the following letter.

“The writers, cast and crew remain extremely dedicated to the show.  In fact, we haven’t given up all hope.  There are still eight episodes of Season 2 left to air and if our numbers improve – though they would have to do so dramatically – there’s hope that ABC will consider a Third Season.  For us, it all comes down to getting people to watch those eight episodes.  Towards that end, we’re working extremely hard to make them great.”

I never stop emailing the network and expressing my dismay and anger at the outrageous cancellation of Eli Stone.

Probably won’t do any good unless the show is picked up by a cable. Anyway, it makes me feel better to DO SOMETHING !

I reminded one ABC exec of how the NBC corner office suits were shaken out recently. Could happen at ABC too with such bad judgement.

But one consolation is that Jonny Lee Miller will survive and bring us his talent and charm in other venues. He has a movie Endgame being shown at the Sundance Film festival. Hope it is a smashingly good film.

    J. Roberts, I completely agree with your frustration. Eli Stone is one of my favorite shows…

Just wanted to leave a quick thank you note for your support & great article!

Any modern day Television needs an Eli Stone; not the character or the TV drama, but what it represents and how it can show that having faith is much more than merely just a word!

  4. Matt Welsh Says:

    Yes Yash,

I agree. Eli Stone and what he represents means a lot. To make a show about a lawyer who relies on faith to prove his cases and fight for his clients is a creative and entertaining method of inspiration.

This topic is quite trendy in the net at the moment. What do you pay the most attention to when choosing what to write ?
